For 2021, both SUVs still have the same engine with the same fuel requirements and fuel economy, however; the Suburban has a little more capacity and can hold an extra five gallons in the tank. The main difference between the Tahoe and Suburban is the amount of space. The 2021 Suburban is still king when it comes to space and offers more head, leg, and overall passenger and cargo room. However, the Tahoe takes the edge in performance with greater towing and payload capacities.
New 2021 Features
More Room
For 2021, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban have gotten an exciting refresh. Both vehicles are bigger than ever, with additional passenger room and cargo space. This is accomplished by extending the wheelbase and length, allowing for more room inside.
The Chevy Tahoe gained an additional 4.9-inches to the wheelbase and 6.7-inches to the overall length. This extra exterior length translates to an additional 18.2-cubic-feet of passenger room. Second-row passengers gain an extra three inches of legroom, while the third row gains an additional ten inches! Chevy aggressively addresses cargo space in the Tahoe this year and adds 10.2-cubic feet of cargo space with all seats filled with passengers.
The Suburban also gains extra room with an extra 5.8-cubic feet of passenger room, 2.3-inches of legroom for second-row passengers, 2.2-inches for third-row passengers, and an additional 1.8 cubic-feet of cargo space. This may not seem like a big difference, but the Suburban was already a massive vehicle, and you now have even more reason to double-check your garage to see if it will fit.
Other Major Changes
In addition to all the extra room, both vehicles come with ten-speed automatic transmission, independent rear suspension, and the option to upgrade to a diesel engine.
